(7/12/07) These are photos from the various trips I've been on with my ATVs. I love exploring new places, especially up in the mountains. Old ghost towns and mining communities are of particular interest, which is why you'll find many photos of them. Some of the links have lots of photos, some have only a few.

There are some more photos posted in the Trips secion of the ATV Explorers website. Since the ATVExplorers group downsized dramatically a while back, we haven't been making organized trips, so the majority of those photos are from 2002-2003.

  • Gold Lake 11/18/07. A short 20-mile ride right before the snow comes. Great ride, great scenery!

  • Jackson Meadows 11/5/06. 64 miles through the area scouting campsites for next Summer.

  • Downieville 7/16/05. 68 miles from Downieville up to Gold Lake and back.

  • Lakes Basin 9/1/04. This was a very short one-day trip out of Sierra City to the north.

  • High Rock Canyon 10/29/06. A very long day-trip and a 98-mile ride up through High Rock Canyon and the surrounding hills and valleys of far northern Nevada, an hour or so north of Gerlach.

  • Hunter Lake 10/6/2006. What better way to return to Nevada than with a ride up the Hunter Lake Trail?

  • Dixie Valley 7-1/05 - 7/3/05. A 2-1/2 day trip to Dixie Valley in central Nevada.

  • Peavine Mountain 6/13/05. A fast, 50-mile ride around the Peavine mountain area, plus into California a short ways.

  • Local Area 4/8/05. This was a short, 28-mile ride in the local area (Hungry Valley), cut short due to inclement weather.

  • Dixie Valley 6/25/04. Another multi-day trip to a favorite area. Sadly, after an ATV accident, tempers flared, and a group of friends who had ridden together for years went separate ways.

  • Austin 10/15/03. A one-day ride out of Austin, Nevada. This would have been a multi-day ride, were it not for one of our group wrecking his ATV.

  • Tonopah 9/17/03. Some fun riding in a valley to the east of Tonopah.

  • Dogskin Mountains 8/16/03. This was an epic-length ride (70-miles) that covered much of the Dogskin Mountains, which are on the western side of Pyramid Lake, one range more to the west (the Virginia Mountains border the lake to the west).

  • Berlin 7/12/03. Exploring the mountains around Berlin, NV (yeah, the home of the Ichthyosaur park).

  • Hunter Lake 7/4/03. I spent my Fourth of July riding the trails up in the Carson Range, accessed from southwest Reno via the Hunter Lake Trail.

  • Pioche 4/6/03. Three days of riding out of the Pioche, NV area. Lots of neat mining ruins, and great scenery.

  • Gabbs 3/9/03. Three days of riding out of the Gabbs, NV area. Lots of neat mining ruins, and great scenery.

  • Alamo 1/15/03. Three days of riding out of the Alamo, NV area. Lots of neat mining ruins, and great scenery.

  • Mina 11/18/02. Three days of riding out of the Mina, NV area. Lots of neat mining ruins, and great scenery.

  • Dixie Valley 10/20/02. A quick one-day ride around a favorite loop in the Stillwater Mountains, out of Dixie Valley.

  • Fox Mountain Range 10/19/02. A day of riding in the Fox Mountain Range of Northern Nevada (north of Pyramid Lake).

  • Silver Peak 9/27/02. Three days of riding out of the Silver Peak, NV area. Lots of neat mining ruins, and great scenery.

  • Stillwater Mountains 9/6/02. Three days of riding in the Stillwater Mountains of Centra Nevada.

  • Reno 2/17/02. This was a longer 59-mile ride into the valley area that I explored on the 2/12 trip, but this time I went much farther north.

  • Reno 2/12/02. This was a quick 28-mile ride into the valley areas to the west of where I live.

  • Pyramid Lake 6/29/02. This is from a trip up near Pyramid Lake today... this time it's to the west of Hwy 445.

  • Wickes 8/12/06. 22 Images. A 62-mile ride through familiar territory and into some new areas west of there. One last ride before moving back to Reno!

  • Elkhorn 7/4/06. 27 Images. A 62-mile ride back through the Elkhorn Mountains to explore some trails found the previous weekend.

  • Elkhorn 6/25/06. 39 Images. A 30-mile ride through the southern end of the Elkhorn Mountains, and through the old ghost town of Elkhorn.

  • Wickes 6/18/06. 27 Images. 50+ miles of sunny riding all through the Helena and Deerlodge Nat'l Forests.

  • Boulder 6/15/06. 22 Images. A brief 23-mile ride up into the mountains south of Boulder.

  • Wickes 5/29/06. 19 Images. A 45-mile ride without much of a plan due to being turned back at many points by heavy snow from a recent storm.

  • Wickes 5/21/06. 45 Images. Forty miles of investigating snow conditions (it's still up there!) and exploring a few new areas before thunderstorms necessitated a short day.

  • Rimini 11/12/05. 31 Images. A 62-mile ride up into the mountains to scout snow conditions for the start of snowmobiling season.

  • Wickes 10/22/05. 22 Images. A 47-mile ride that took us into some previously unexplored areas. Amazing scenery and varying trail difficulty made this one of our best rides ever!

  • Wickes 10/15/05. 13 Images. A 30-mile ride into the same area as the previous weekend.

  • Corbin 10/9/05. 19 Images. A 25-mile ride from a tiny town not far from Jefferson City.

  • York 8/27/05. 14 Images. 50 miles near the Lake Hauser / Canyon Ferry Lake area.

  • Rimini 8/20/05. 12 Images. 70 miles in and around the old mining town of Rimini (Rim-In-Eye)!

  • Wickes 8/14/05. 13 Images. A 50-mile ride to continue exploring for places to ride.
